How much to charge for mobile detailing in 2026

Packages by vehicle size, the add-ons that pay, coatings and correction, and fleet work, with national price ranges and a worked quote you can copy.

By Paul DeLalla, founder of Zeemy. Updated September 9, 2026. National figures in US dollars.

A standard mobile detail costs about $278 nationally in 2026, a basic package $158, and a premium package $443. Interior and exterior work each run $50 to $300 depending on the vehicle, and paint correction and ceramic coatings climb from $500 to well past $2,000. Mobile detailers who make money price by package and vehicle size, sell the add-ons as lines, and put fleet accounts on recurring billing.

This guide gives you a starting price for every package and add-on, explains what pushes the number up or down, and walks one real quote from the driveway to the total. The typical column matches the list Zeemy is adding for mobile detailing accounts, so you can start from it and adjust for your market.

What moves the price

Vehicle size and condition

A compact sedan and a three-row SUV with cargo space are not the same interior. Price by size class and add a condition surcharge for heavy pet hair, sand, spills, and smoke. Say the surcharge out loud at the curb, before you start.

Mobile costs

Fuel, drive time, water, generator, and wear on the van are your overhead. Build them into every package rather than as a visible travel fee, and keep a service radius. A $60 wash 40 minutes away is a loss.

Product tier

Spray wax, paste wax, sealant, and ceramic are different products at different prices, and customers understand good, better, best. Name the protection level on each package and price the upgrade as a line.

Correction is skill, not time

Paint correction and coatings are where a detailer's margin lives. Price them on the result and the warranty, not the hours, and never bundle them into a full detail. A ceramic coating is a $500 to $2,000 line on its own.

Fleet and recurring

A dealership, a realtor, or a contractor with five trucks wants a per-vehicle price and one monthly invoice. Discount per vehicle, bill monthly on a recurring invoice, and treat the account as the anchor of your week.

A worked quote

A customer books a full detail on a black SUV that has been through a winter, and asks about protecting the paint. You look it over in the driveway and see light swirls and a dog's worth of hair in the back. Here is the quote, built from the package list in a minute.

ESTIMATE
Full detail, black SUV
AWAITING APPROVAL
Full detail, SUV or truck$300.00
Pet hair removal$60.00
One-step paint correction$400.00
Ceramic coating, 1 year$500.00
Total$1,260.00

The full detail is the base. Pet hair is a surcharge the customer can see and understand. The correction and coating are the upsell, quoted as two lines so the customer can take the coating without the correction if they want, though on black paint you will explain why they go together.

They approve on their phone, and the invoice goes out when you pack the van. Paid in the driveway, and the maintenance plan goes on a recurring invoice the following month.

Pricing tips from the field

Three packages, two sizes

Basic, standard, and premium, each priced for car and for SUV or truck. Six numbers cover almost every call, and customers choose the middle one most of the time.

Sell add-ons as lines, not upsells

Headlights, engine bay, pet hair, odor. Put them on the estimate as separate lines and the customer ticks two of them without a hard sell. That is $100 to $200 on a typical job.

Never fold coatings into a detail

Paint correction and ceramic coatings carry your highest margin and your warranty. Quote them separately, explain the difference in one sentence, and let the price signal the value.

Keep a service radius and stick to it

Every job outside the radius costs you an hour of unpaid driving. Either price it in with a distance surcharge or decline it. Full calendars come from dense routes.

Put fleet accounts on monthly recurring invoices

One invoice a month per fleet, sent automatically, with automatic reminders. It is the steadiest money in detailing and the easiest to collect once it is set up.

Questions mobile detailing owners ask about pricing

How much should I charge for a full mobile detail?

In 2026, $200 to $300 for a car and $250 to $450 for an SUV or truck, with the national average around $278 for a standard mobile detail. Basic packages run about $158 and premium about $443.

Should I charge more for SUVs and trucks?

Yes, 25 to 40 percent more than a car for the same package. Larger interiors, more glass, and more paint take proportionally more time and product.

How do I price ceramic coatings?

One-year coatings run $400 to $800 and multi-year professional coatings $700 to $2,000 or more, including the paint prep. Always quote correction and coating as their own lines, never inside a detail package.

What should I charge for pet hair?

A surcharge of $25 to $100 depending on how heavy it is. Embedded hair can add an hour to an interior, so name the fee at the curb before you begin.

How do I price fleet work?

Per vehicle at a discount from retail, $35 to $75 for a wash, on a standing schedule, billed monthly on one recurring invoice. Volume and predictability are what you are trading the discount for.
